Experience with a servant’s heart

8 Consecutive years of appointed and elected service to Southlake 2011-present

Hello friends and neighbors.  It has been a pleasure serving the city of Southlake since 2011.  I have been your elected council person for place 3 since 2016 and I am running for re-election in the same seat.  Professionally, I manage a Private Financial Services office here in Southlake.  My wife and I have owned and operated a small business for almost 10 years and I have been passionately working on the restoration of the iconic and historic Baker Hotel in Mineral Wells, TX.  Our office recently relocated from Town Square to the new award-winning Granite Building.  My clients and fellow financial advisors find me to be a resource, friend and asset as we navigate through today’s diverse financial landscape.  As your councilman, I have applied those business principles of being a knowledgeable resource, a friend and an asset to our citizens and city staff as we navigate through our city’s vision, goals, and objectives.

Personally, I was born in East Central Illinois and raised by a single mom.  We moved extensively while I was a child living in California, Arizona, Texas and back to Illinois.  Growing up, we struggled to make ends meet.  At times, we were supported by state and federal subsidy programs to help us put food on the table.  The help was always temporary, just long enough to get us through to the next opportunity ahead.  As we moved and my mom found better jobs, we were always grateful, humble and eager to work hard to try to get ahead.  We finally settled back in the town I was born, Urbana, Illinois.  I met my wife my sophomore year of high school and after a few years and some hard work, convinced her to be my prom date our senior year.  Four years later, after graduating from the University of Illinois, God blessed me with the marriage to my wife Tracy.  We have been married for almost 24 years.  Together, we have grown our family.  We have a daughter, Sophie who is a sophomore at Carroll High School and our son, Grant is in 4th grade at Old Union Elementary. After multiple corporate relocations and career advancements, I changed careers and moved to Southlake 14 years ago. We chose Southlake for the same reasons many do.  The schools, the culture, the location.

I had a desire to serve our community as a way of volunteering and with an interest in becoming more knowledgeable about how Southlake evolved into such a special community.   Throughout my professional and volunteer career, I have always believed in leading with a servant’s heart.  My career mandates integrity, honesty, and trust.  My volunteer services require the same.  Leading with the desire to humbly serve requires me to be a worthy listener.  As your place 3 City Councilman, it is my intent to continue the great works of councils past and to have an eye towards how the future is evolving and changing.  I look forward to serving our community another 3 years.
